SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1070
WHEREAS, When they married on June 5, 1959, J. C. and Pearl
Swafford made a lifetime commitment to each other, and their
mutual trust has been amply rewarded, for they are now
celebrating their golden wedding anniversary; and
WHEREAS, The world has changed considerably during the
years of their marriage, yet Mr. and Mrs. Swafford have cherished
traditional family and moral values; and
WHEREAS, Over the years, they have grown stronger in their
love and devotion as together they have experienced the joys and
sorrows of everyday living; and
WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Swafford have been blessed with a
wonderful family; their children, Rhonda Solley, Mike Swafford,
and Carla Merka, have been the source of much pride and joy, and
their seven grandchildren hold a special place in their hearts; and
WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Swafford are sharing their happiness
with family and friends at an anniversary celebration hosted by
their children on June 6, 2009, at Mount Sylvia Missionary
Baptist Church; and
WHEREAS, The long and happy union of Mr. and Mrs. Swafford
is truly an inspiration to us all; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
Legislature, hereby extend congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. J. C.
Swafford on their 50th wedding anniversary; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
this distinguished couple as a memento of this special day in
their lives.
