                    SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 157
 In Memory
 of
 Jos Angel Gavito
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
 citizens of Brownsville in mourning the loss of Jos Angel
 Gavito, who died January 5, 2009, at the age of 94; and
 WHEREAS, Jos Angel Gavito was born March 18, 1914, and was
 the fifth of 10 children of Manuel and Isabel O. Gavito; he was a
 member of one of Brownsville's pioneer families, and he was a
 lifetime Brownsville resident; and
 WHEREAS, An exemplary gentleman, Mr. Gavito was respected
 in the community for his accomplishments and for his integrity
 and generous nature; and
 WHEREAS, Jos Angel Gavito was beloved by his family and
 friends, and he will long be remembered with affection and
 appreciation by those who were fortunate to share in his life;
 now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
 Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
 family of Jos Angel Gavito: his wife of 63 years, Amparo Gomez
 Gavito; his sons, Jose Angel Gavito, Jr., Alfredo Antonio Gavito,
 and Ricardo F. Gavito; his daughter, Margarita Canales; his
 brother, Alfredo Gavito; his seven grandchildren; and his
 great-granddaughter; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
 Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
 memory of Jos Angel Gavito.
