                    SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 444
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
 recognize Clarence A. Johnson for his exemplary efforts in
 support of education in San Antonio through his work with the
 Heroes and Heritage Educational Summit; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Johnson is Principal Director and Director
 for Civilian Equal Employment Opportunity in the Office of
 Diversity Management and Equal Opportunity at the United States
 Department of Defense; based at the Pentagon, he is responsible
 for developing equal opportunity policies and programs affecting
 all civilian employees of the Department of Defense; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Johnson served our nation for many years as an
 officer on active duty in the United States Air Force; he held
 many positions of responsibility, including C141 navigator,
 squadron commander, and group commander, and he earned many
 commendations for his service, including the Defense Superior
 Service Medal with one oak leaf cluster, the Legion of Merit, and
 the Meritorious Service Medal with three oak leaf clusters; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Johnson has worked tirelessly to foster
 cooperation between community organizations and students so that
 those students might receive the internships and jobs that will
 advance their education and their careers; he is truly deserving
 of recognition for his dedication to furthering the cause of
 education in our country; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
 Legislature, hereby commend Clarence A. Johnson on his
 dedication to equal opportunity for all students and extend to
 him best wishes for continued success in all his future
 endeavors; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 him as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
