                    SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 488
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
 recognize Ren Gonzales, who is retiring on April 1, 2009, after
 many years of outstanding service with the Houston Branch of the
 Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Gonzales serves as vice president at the
 Houston branch, where he is currently responsible for cash
 operations and the Federal Reserve Law Enforcement unit; and
 WHEREAS, A native of San Antonio, Mr. Gonzales began his
 36-year career with the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas at its San
 Antonio Branch in 1973 and transferred to the Houston Branch when
 he was promoted to assistant vice president in 1987; and
 WHEREAS, Over the course of his career, Mr. Gonzales has
 become known for his superior leadership and his comprehensive
 knowledge of Federal Reserve operations; he has had management
 responsibilities in nearly every operational aspect of the bank,
 and he served on special assignment at the bank's board of
 governors in Washington, D.C.; and
 WHEREAS, Talented and resourceful, Mr. Gonzales has
 handled his many responsibilities with exceptional efficiency
 and dedication; his leadership played a vital role in the
 creation of many of the important practices put in place for the
 Federal Reserve System; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Gonzales developed invaluable relationships
 with community leaders and organizations throughout the Houston
 area, including the Greater Houston Partnership, the Hispanic
 Chamber of Commerce, and the Houston Independent School District,
 which honored him with induction into its Hall of Fame; and
 WHEREAS, An exemplary executive, Mr. Gonzales is respected
 and admired by his colleagues, and his presence at the Houston
 Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas will be greatly
 missed; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
 Legislature, hereby commend Ren Gonzales on his long and
 distinguished career with the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas and
 extend to him best wishes for the retirement years ahead; and, be
 it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
