SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 636 WHEREAS, The 85th birthday of an esteemed Texan is truly cause for celebration, and Wanda Collins of Arlington is marking that significant milestone in her life on April 27, 2009; and WHEREAS, Born on that date in 1924, Wanda Collins grew up during the Great Depression, the youngest of five children; she went on to earn her real estate and brokerage licenses and enjoy a long and successful real estate career, including owning and managing several of her own properties; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Collins is the proud mother of three daughters, Deborah Catherine, Cynthia Elaine, and Pamela Gayle, and the devoted wife of Samuel Benton Collins, who fought heroically in World War II; and WHEREAS, Today, she continues to impress others with her famous flaky pie crust, and she remains a dedicated member of Trinity United Methodist Church; in addition, she takes great pleasure in the company of her grandchildren, Emily Caroline, Nathan Edward, Carri Ann, and Justin Runnels, and her great-grandchildren, Nicole Lynn, Sierra Samantha, and Natalie Elizabeth; and WHEREAS, Respected and admired by all who know her, Wanda Collins has demonstrated remarkable dedication, diligence, and initiative throughout her life, and it is a pleasure to join with her family and friends in recognizing her 8-1/2 decades of life well lived; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st Legislature, hereby congratulate Wanda Collins on the occasion of her 85th birthday and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be prepared for Mrs. Collins as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
