SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 667 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Hooks-Epstein Galleries, Incorporated, on the occasion of its 40th anniversary, which is being celebrated in September of 2009; and WHEREAS, Hooks-Epstein Galleries is one of Houston's most established art gallery businesses; it was founded in 1969 and was located on Bissonnet in the Museum District; in 1992, the gallery was moved to Gallery Row; its owner and president, Geri Hooks, was the founder of the Houston Art Dealers Association; and WHEREAS, Over the years, the gallery has produced numerous exhibitions and has received national and international acclaim; it has represented established, mid-career, and emerging artists and has remained in the forefront of galleries specializing in late 19th century and 20th century representational American, European, and Latin works of art; and WHEREAS, The gallery's stellar reputation was built through its focus on exhibiting works on paper and small sculpture; its exhibitions have spotlighted works by internationally recognized masters as well as local and Texas-based artists; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st Legislature, hereby commend Geri Hooks and all associated with Hooks-Epstein Galleries on the gallery's exceptional quality, reputation, and success and extend congratulations to them on the occasion of its 40th anniversary; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in honor of Hooks-Epstein Galleries.
