                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 82ND LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            April 4, 2011      TO: Honorable Richard Pena Raymond, Chair, House Committee on Human Services      FROM: John S O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB1099 by Farias (Relating to creating an advisory committee on child protective services in the region that includes Bexar County for the Department of Family and Protective Services.), As Introduced    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would create the Bexar County Child Protective Services Advisory Council to advise the Department of Family and Protective Services on any matter relating to the provision of child protective services in the region that includes Bexar County. It would require agency staff to (a) attend quarterly meetings in Bexar County (b) provide a written response to advisory council recommendations, and (c) consider and respond to issues, concerns, and recommendations presented by the advisory council. The response must be in writing and include the agency's rationale for its policies and any action taken or not taken by the agency. The agency indicates any cost to implement provisions of the bill would be minimal and can be absorbed within available resources. Local Government Impact Because the bill would not have statewide impact on units of local government of the same type or class, no comment from this office is required by the rules of the House/Senate as to its probable fiscal implication on units of local government.
