The bill would amend the Code of Criminal Procedure to authorized a judge that grants community supervision to a person convicted of an offense involving animal cruelty to require the person to attend a responsible pet owner course according to guidelines in the bill. The bill would take effect September 1, 2011. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
