The bill amends Section 241.103 of the Health and Safety Code to require a hospital to provide written notice to a patient or a patients legally authorized representative, as defined in Section 241.151, that the hospital may dispose of medical records relating to the patient within the periods specified in Section 241.103. In an emergency treatment situation, the notice must be provided as soon as reasonably practicable. It is assumed any costs associated with this provision could be absorbed within existing agency resources. Local Government Impact No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
