The bill would amend the Property Code to create a Class B misdemeanor offense if a person knowingly provides false or misleading information in a self-service storage facility lien notice. A Class B misdemeanor is punishable by a fine of not more than $2,000, confinement in jail for a term not to exceed 180 days, or both. The bill would repeal Section 59.047 of the Property Code. Local Government Impact Costs associated with enforcement, prosecution and confinement, and revenue gain from fines imposed and collected is not anticipated to have a significant fiscal implication.
