 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 AN ACT
 relating to a waiver of concealed handgun license fees for certain
 veterans of the military.
 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 SECTION 1.  Section 411.1951(b), Government Code, is amended
 to read as follows:
 (b)  Notwithstanding any other provision of this subchapter,
 the department shall waive any fee required for the issuance of an
 original, duplicate, modified, or renewed license under this
 subchapter if the applicant for the license is:
 (1)  a member of the United States armed forces,
 including a member of the reserves, national guard, or state guard;
 or
 (2)  a veteran, as defined by Subsection (a) [who,
 within 365 days preceding the date of the application, was
 honorably discharged from the branch of service in which the person
 served].
 SECTION 2.  Section 411.1951(c), Government Code, is
 repealed.
 SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2011.
