                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 82ND LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            March 11, 2011      TO: Honorable Pete Gallego, Chair, House Committee on Criminal Jurisprudence      FROM: John S O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB1343 by Carter (Relating to proper venue for certain criminal prosecutions of mortgage fraud.), As Introduced    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Code of Criminal Procedure, Chapter 13, relating to the proper venue for certain criminal prosecutions of mortgage fraud. The bill establishes the venue for criminal prosecutions of mortgage fraud cases, however the bill will not increase or decrease the total number of mortgage fraud cases. Accordingly, no significant fiscal impact to the state is anticipated. The bill would take effect September 1, 2011. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
