                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 82ND LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            May 16, 2011      TO: Honorable Tommy Williams, Chair, Senate Committee on Transportation & Homeland Security      FROM: John S O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB1544 by Hunter (Relating to the design of specialty license plates issued to members and former members of the United States armed forces.), As Engrossed    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend Section 504.3011, Transportation Code, to require specialty license plates issued by the Deparment of Motor Vehicles (DMV) for former members of the United States Armed forces to include the words "Honorably Discharged" on the request of an applicant for the specialty plates. Based on the analysis of DMV, it is assumed any costs or duties associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within the agency's existing resources.
