The bill would amend the Election Code to authorize the governing body of a political subdivision, other than a county, that holds its general election for officers on a date other than the November uniform election date to change the election date to the November uniform election date not later than December 31, 2012. The bill would take effect immediately if it receives a vote of two-thirds of all members elected to each house. If the bill does not receive the necessary votes, the bill would take effect September 1, 2011. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
