The bill would amend the Election Code to authorize the governing body of a political subdivision, other than a county, that holds its general election for officers on a date other than the November uniform election date to change the election date to the November uniform election date not later than December 31, 2012. The bill would also authorize a city to change the date of election to the uniform election date in November if the majority of votes cast in a city election approve the measure. If the election date changes, the city is required to adjust the terms of office to conform to the new election date. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
