The bill would amend the Election Code to authorize the governing body of a political subdivision, other than a county, that holds its general election for officers on a date other than the November uniform election date to change the election date to the November uniform election date not later than December 31, 2012. The bill would also authorize a city to change the date of election to the uniform election date in November if the majority of votes cast in a city election approve the measure. If the election date changes, the city is required to adjust the terms of office to conform to the new election date.
