In addition, the bill would allow a person to submit legislation to create a new or significantly affect an existing occupational licensing agency. The bill would require the Sunset Commission to make certain determinations in the event that the Commission chose to review legislation that creates a new licensing agency. In addition, in the event that the Sunset Commission chose to review the submitted legislation, the Commission would be required to report its findings to the legislature prior to the next legislative sessions. Methodology It is estimated that $115,959 out of the General Revenue Fund each fiscal year would be necessary to implement the provisions of the bill as follows: $50,000 -- cost to contract for an estimated 320 hours to review the economic impact of occupational regulation, including the extent to which the program stimulates or restricts competition and affects consumer choice and the cost of services. $65,959 -- cost for 1 full time equivalent position (Policy Analyst) to review proposed legislation and production costs to print and distribute reports containing the agency's findings to the legislature. Technology No fiscal impact to technology resources is anticipated. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
