                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 82ND LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION   Revision 1         May 3, 2011      TO: Honorable Larry Taylor, Chair, House Committee on Elections      FROM: John S O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB1696 by Zedler (Relating to the authority of the attorney general to investigate election-related offenses.), As Introduced    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Election Code and require the Office of the Attorney General to investigate criminal conduct in connection with an election upon receiving an affidavit from two or more registered voters from that territory. It is anticipated that any additional costs associated with implementation of the legislation could be absorbed within existing resources.
