                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 82ND LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            April 29, 2011      TO: Honorable John Whitmire, Chair, Senate Committee on Criminal Justice      FROM: John S O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB1770 by Madden (Relating to the payment of temporary housing costs for certain inmates released or eligible for release on parole or to mandatory supervision.), As Engrossed    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would permit the Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) to pay for temporary post-release housing for an inmate or releasee if no TDCJ operated or contracted residential correctional facility exists in the county of the inmate's or releasee's legal residence.  The Texas Department of Criminal Justice and the Board of Pardons and Parole have determined that the cost of implementing the bill would not be significant.    Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
