LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE, 82ND LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION May 13, 2011 TO: Honorable Chris Harris, Chair, Senate Committee on Jurisprudence FROM: John S O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board IN RE:HB1771 by Madden (Relating to the establishment of the Specialty Courts Advisory Council.), As Engrossed No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. The bill would amend the Government Code and provide that the Governor establish a Specialty Courts Advisory Council in the Criminal Justice Division within the Trusteed Programs within the Office of the Governor. The Council would evaluate applications for grant funding for specialty courts in this state and make funding recommendations to the Criminal Justice Division. It is anticipated that any additional costs associated with implementation of the legislation could be absorbed within existing resources. Local Government Impact No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
