                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 82ND LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            April 29, 2011      TO: Honorable John Whitmire, Chair, Senate Committee on Criminal Justice      FROM: John S O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB1779 by Naishtat (Relating to an exemption from private security regulation for social workers engaged in the practice of social work.), As Engrossed    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Occupations Code to exempt a licensed social worker, who is engaged in the practice of social work, from regulation under the Private Security Act. The Department of Public Safety and the Department of State Health Services anticipate no significant fiscal impact from the provisions of the bill. The bill would take effect immediately if it receives a two-thirds vote of the members of each house. Otherwise, the bill would take effect September 1, 2011.  Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
