                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 82ND LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            April 8, 2011      TO: Honorable Byron Cook, Chair, House Committee on State Affairs      FROM: John S O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB178 by Jackson, Jim (Relating to requiring governmental entities to participate in the federal electronic verification of work authorization program or E-verify.), As Introduced    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Government Code relating to requiring governmental entities to participate in the  federal electronic verification of work authorization program or E-verify. Based on the analysis of the Texas Workforce Commission, it is assumed duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated. Local governmental entities may incur some training costs, and increased staff time to comply with the provisions of the bill, but those costs are not anticipated to be significant.
