A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the applicability of architectural barrier standards.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Section 469.003(c), Government Code, is amended
to read as follows:
(c) The standards adopted under this chapter do not
apply to religious organizations or entities controlled by
religious organizations, including places of worship, as
referenced in Section 307, Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990
(42 U.S.C. Section 12187) [a place used primarily for religious
rituals within a building or facility of a religious organization].
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2011.
