                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 82ND LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            May 16, 2011      TO: Honorable Robert Duncan, Chair, Senate Committee on State Affairs      FROM: John S O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB1871 by Giddings (Relating to the amount and payment of attorney's fees in certain workers' compensation cases.), As Engrossed    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Labor Code relating to the amount and payment of attorney's fees in certain workers' compensation cases. Based on the analysis provided by the Texas Department of Insurance and the Texas Department of Transportation, it is assumed that all duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing agency resources. Based on the analysis provided by the State Office of Risk Management, the Texas A&M University System, and the University of Texas System Administration, it is assumed that implementation of the bill will have no fiscal impact on these agencies. Local Government Impact No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
