Dutton Jr., Chair, House Committee on Urban Affairs      FROM: John S O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB2262 by Dutton (Relating to periodic reauthorization of municipal building permit fees.), As Introduced    No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Local Government Code to define building permit fee as a fee charged by a municipality as a condition to construct, renovate, or remodel a structure. A building permit fee would be abolished on the 10th anniversary date the fee is adopted or reauthorized unless the governing body of the municipality holds a public hearing or votes to reauthorize the fee. Local Government Impact It is assumed that the governing body of a municipality would reauthorize a building permit fee within the specified time period; therefore, no significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
