The bill would amend the Government Code to authorize honorably retired peace officers to carry certain firearms with photo identification issued by a federal, state or local law enforcement agency. The bill would repeal Subchapter H, Chapter 614, Government Code relating to certain retired peace officers' identification cards and eligibility for weapons proficiency certification. The bill would take effect September 1, 2011. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated. The bill would amend the Government Code to authorize honorably retired peace officers to carry certain firearms with photo identification issued by a federal, state or local law enforcement agency.
