                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 82ND LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            April 1, 2011      TO: Honorable Joseph Pickett, Chair, House Committee on Defense & Veterans' Affairs      FROM: John S O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB2851 by Mallory Caraway (Relating to deferral of certain surcharge payments for active duty military personnel.), As Introduced    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Transportation Code to require the Department of Public Safety (DPS) to establish a deferral program for Driver Responsibility Program (DRP) surcharges for Driving While License Invalid or Without Financial Responsibility assessed against active duty military members. The bill would take effect September 1, 2011. No significant fiscal implication to the state is anticipated.
