The bill would amend the Election Code to create a Class C misdemeanor offense if the person formerly serving as the county chair of a political party does not transfer to the new county chair the required documents not later than the 30th day after the new chairs term begins. A Class C misdemeanor is punishable by a fine of not more than $500. Local Government Impact Costs associated with enforcement, prosecution and confinement could likely be absorbed within existing resources.
