Dutton Jr., Chair, House Committee on Urban Affairs      FROM: John S O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB3344 by Isaac (Relating to competitive bid requirements for public utility agencies that award construction contracts.), As Introduced    No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Local Government Code to increase the amount that a public utility agency is authorized to award a construction contract to on the basis of competitive bids to more than $50,000. Under current statute, the amount is more than $20,000. The provision would exclude a contract necessary from unforeseen damage to property or public equipment.
