The bill would amend the Penal Code to require an individual adjudged guilty of a Class C misdemeanor or an offense defined outside the Penal Code that is punishable only by a fine, to be punished by a fine of at least $25 but not to exceed $500, unless the offense is plainly labeled as a Class A or B misdemeanor. The bill would take effect September 1, 2011. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
