Under provisions of the bill, the Higher Education Coordinating Board would provide a uniform priority application deadline for applications for financial assistance for an academic year for general academic teaching institutions as defined by Section 61.003 of the Education Code. The Board would consult with financial aid personnel at institutions of higher education in adopting rules providing for the deadline. Any costs associated with implementing this provision would be absorbed within current resources. The bill also amends eligibility requirements for the Texas Educational Opportunity Grant Program. Local Government Impact No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
