                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 82ND LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            April 25, 2011      TO: Honorable Pete Gallego, Chair, House Committee on Criminal Jurisprudence      FROM: John S O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB3759 by White (Relating to the criminal offenses for which and the circumstances under which certain communication devices may be detected and communications may be intercepted.), As Introduced    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend Article 18.20 of the Code of Criminal Procedure to provide judges authority to order interception of communications related to escaped offenders and provide authority for the detection of wireless devices in the immediate vicinity of a correctional facility during an escape or attempted escape.  The bill would take effect September 1, 2011.  The Texas Department of Criminal Justice anticipates no significant fiscal impact from the bill.
