The bill would amend Article 18.20 of the Code of Criminal Procedure to provide judges authority to order interception of communications related to escaped offenders and provide authority for the detection of wireless devices in the immediate vicinity of a correctional facility during an escape or attempted escape. The bill would take effect September 1, 2011. The Texas Department of Criminal Justice anticipates no significant fiscal impact from the bill.
