The bill would amend Article 43.14 of the Code of Criminal Procedure to require the Texas Board of Criminal Justice to determine at an open meeting the procedure for executing an offender by intravenous injection. The director of the Correctional Institutions Divison would be required to supervise the procedure and to notify the offender and his attorney of specific details regarding the lethal substances to be used. No significant fiscal impact from the bill is anticipated by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
