The bill would amend the Occupations Code relating to the regulation of certain telecommunicators and providing penalties. The Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Education indicates that there would be a small initial cost and no recurring significant costs. The bill would take effect September 1, 2011. Local Government Impact The bill would require local governments thto provide telecommunicators with 24 hours of crisis communications instruction approved by the Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education. Costs would vary by local government depending on the number of telecommunicators employed but are not anticipated to be significant.
