LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE, 82ND LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION March 10, 2011 TO: Honorable Richard Pena Raymond, Chair, House Committee on Human Services FROM: John S O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board IN RE:HB434 by Parker (Relating to the minimum standards for licensed child-care facilities and registered family homes.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. The bill would require the Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) to amend the requirements in Chapter 42, Human Resources Code, relating to the minimum standards for registered family homes and child-care facilities. The new standards would ensure that these operations follow the directions of a child's health care provider when providing specialized medical assistance required by the child and maintain the directions for a reasonable period of time. DFPS indicates that the costs associated with implementing the bill could be absorbed within existing resources. Local Government Impact No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
