                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 82ND LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            April 29, 2011      TO: Honorable Jane Nelson, Chair, Senate Committee on Health & Human Services      FROM: John S O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB434 by Parker (Relating to the minimum standards for licensed child-care facilities and registered family homes.), As Engrossed    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would require the Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) to amend the requirements in Chapter 42, Human Resources Code, relating to the minimum standards for registered family homes and child-care facilities.  The new standards would ensure that these operations follow the directions of a child's health care provider when providing specialized medical assistance required by the child and maintain the directions for a reasonable period of time. DFPS indicates that the costs associated with implementing the bill could be absorbed within existing resources.
