                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 82ND LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            March 11, 2011      TO: Honorable Byron Cook, Chair, House Committee on State Affairs      FROM: John S O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB449 by Lucio III (Relating to a limitation on the use by state agencies of credit information regarding certain job applicants.), As Introduced    No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Government Code to prohibit state governmental entities from using credit information or credit scores when making an employment decision. This restriction would not apply to applicants applying for a position: (1) with direct access to money or negotiable instruments; (2) as a peace officer; (3) as a corrections officers; or (4) investigating possible violations of law or rule. Local Government Impact No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
