The bill would amend the Election Code relating to certification for placement on the ballot of candidates for president or vice-president for the United States. The Secretary of State would not be allowed to certify the name of a candidate for president or vice-president unless the candidate has presented the candidates original birth certificate indicating the name of the hospital and the physician of record or a document certifying the candidates birth in the United States. It is anticipated that any costs associated with implementation of the legislation could be absorbed within existing resources. The bill would take effect on September 1, 2011. Local Government Impact No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
