The bill would amend the Code of Criminal Appeals, Article 45.057 which would require that justice, municipal, and juvenile courts obtain evidence that certain minors are in compliance with mandatory school attendance requirements. The bill would require the Department of Public Safety (DPS) to suspend or deny the issuance of certain children's driver's licenses or permits if evidence of mandatory school attendance requirements is not provided to the court. The bill would take effect on September 1, 2011. The Department of Public Safety and the Texas Juvenile Probation Commission anticipate no significant fiscal impact to the state from the bill. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
