The bill would amend the Local Government Code to authorize the governing body of a general-law municipality, by ordinance, to restrict a person required to register as a sex offender from going in, on, or within a specified distance of a child safety zone in the municipality. Local Government Impact Any administrative costs associated with enacting an ordinance and any enforcement costs could likely be absorbed within existing resources.
