       AUTHOR'S / SPONSOR'S STATEMENT OF INTENT   Recent legislation transferred many of the powers and duties of the Department of Protective and Regulatory Services to the Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS); however, not all references to the DFPS in statute were changed to reflect the new name. H.B. 841 cleans up references to DFPS in the Family Code.   H.B. 841 amends current law relating to certain statutory references to the Department of Family and Protective Services.   RULEMAKING AUTHORITY   This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency.    SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS   SECTION 1. Amends Section 33.003(f), Family Code, to authorize the court to appoint to serve as guardian ad litem certain individuals, including, an appropriate employee of the Department of Family and Protective Services, rather than the Department of Protective and Regulatory Services.   SECTION 2. Amends Section 33.008, Family Code, to make a conforming change.   SECTION 3. Amends Section 51.095(d), Family Code, to make a conforming change.   SECTION 4. Amends Section 81.005(a), Family Code, to make a conforming change.   SECTION 5. Amends Section 81.006, Family Code, to make conforming changes.   SECTION 6. Amends Section 81.0075, Family Code, to make a conforming change.    SECTION 7. Amends Section 82.002(d), Family Code, to make a conforming change.    SECTION 8. Amends Section 101.002, Family Code, to make a conforming change.    SECTION 9. Amends Section 101.017, Family Code, to make a conforming change.   SECTION 10.  Amends Section 102.003(a), Family Code, to make a conforming change.   SECTION 11. Effective date: upon passage or September 1, 2011.
