H.C.R. No. 119 HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION WHEREAS, James Alford Davis was named the 2011 Citizen of the Year by the Menard County Chamber of Commerce; and WHEREAS, Born in Menard on November 14, 1929, to Alford and Victoria Davis, James A. Davis lived on the Fritz Wilhelm ranch until he was in the fourth grade, when his family moved into the city of Menard; and WHEREAS, Mr. Davis married the former Nancy Helen Hall in 1956, and together they have been blessed with five children, Keith, Charles, John, Victoria, and Christopher; and WHEREAS, After earning his law degree from the Bates School of Law at the University of Houston, Mr. Davis was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1961; he established a successful career with Shell Pipeline, retiring in 1991 after 35 years of service; and WHEREAS, Since his retirement, Mr. Davis has dedicated himself to raising goats, sheep, cows, and grandkids at the Dry Creek Ranch in Menard, where he and his wife have made their home for the past two decades; and WHEREAS, James A. Davis has distinguished himself through his dedication to his family, profession, and community, and his many achievements are greatly appreciated by his fellow county residents; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the 82nd Legislature of the State of Texas hereby congratulate James Alford Davis on being named the 2011 Citizen of the Year by the Menard County Chamber of Commerce and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Davis as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
