R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Members of the Greater Houston Pachyderm Club are
gathering in Austin on March 30, 2011, to celebrate Pachyderm Day at
the State Capitol; and
WHEREAS, An official allied organization of the Republican
National Committee, the club is a chapter of the Grand Order of
Pachyderm Clubs, which was established on the belief that
government can be made more responsive when more good citizens get
involved with political issues and debates; and
WHEREAS, The Houston group meets weekly and invites speakers
such as elected officials and other public servants, candidates,
and political activists to make presentations of civic or political
importance, and it also sponsors political education seminars and
other outreach initiatives; and
WHEREAS, The Greater Houston Pachyderm Club provides a
practical means for broad citizen participation in politics, and
its members may take great pride in their civic engagement and
achievements; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
Legislature hereby recognize March 30, 2011, as Pachyderm Day at
the State Capitol and extend to the members of the Greater Houston
Pachyderm Club sincere best wishes for a meaningful and memorable
visit to Austin; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the club as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
