 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Members of Brush Country Republican Women have
 played a vital role in their community for 25 years; and
 WHEREAS, Established in 1986 as Atascosa County Republican
 Women's Club, the organization is an affiliate of the Texas
 Federation of Republican Women; and
 WHEREAS, Supporting the goals of the Federation, Brush
 Country participants work diligently to promote the principles and
 candidates of the Republican Party and to actively encourage
 Republican women to run for office; in addition, the group trains
 women to become effective volunteers and undertakes special
 projects in behalf of the party, while also working to promote an
 informed electorate; and
 WHEREAS, Brush Country Republican Women has been supported by
 a number of dedicated leaders, including past presidents Sandra
 Holland, Judith Hooge, Gloria Gonzales, Jimmie Lee Davis, Diane
 Brymer, June Hurley, Texas Moore, Pat Temple, Mary Sue Davis, Mindy
 Cude, Susan Lock, and Caroline George; and
 WHEREAS, Today, the association's 28 members are ably guided
 by president Marian Knowlton, and under her direction, they
 volunteered more than 5,000 hours of service to candidates and
 their campaigns in 2010; and
 WHEREAS, The committed efforts of the organization have been
 recognized with a number of honors, including the Diamond Award for
 outstanding leadership and growth in political action and the
 Speaker Straus Award; and
 WHEREAS, Through their grassroots activism, members of Brush
 Country Republican Women are making a lasting difference in their
 community, state, and nation, and they may take justifiable pride
 in their rich history of civic engagement; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
 Legislature hereby honor Brush Country Republican Women on the 25th
 anniversary of its founding and extend to all those associated with
 the group sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for the organization as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
