 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The Canton High School girls' powerlifting team once
 again proved itself one of the finest in Texas by claiming the Texas
 High School Powerlifting Association Class 3A state championship
 with a victory in the title meet on March 12, 2011; and
 WHEREAS, Facing off against the best teams in the state at the
 American Bank Center in Corpus Christi, the Lady Eagles hoisted
 their way to 30 team points, besting runner-up Crystal City High
 School by 9 points; it is the second consecutive state championship
 for Canton High; and
 WHEREAS, Freshman Bre Rose earned seven points for her team
 with a first-place finish in the 123-pound weight class, as did
 Stephanie Brown at 148 pounds, and for the second time in her career
 Arrin Brown won the 181-pound class; and
 WHEREAS, Lifting in the 97-pound class, Macy Matthews
 finished second to earn the Lady Eagles five points while Sierra
 Zielke and Shelbi Jeanes scored two points each with their
 fourth-place finishes in the 123- and 114-pound classes,
 respectively; and
 WHEREAS, Throughout the season, the Lady Eagles have
 benefited from the contributions of all members of the roster,
 which also includes Teddie Owen, Kelsey Neystel, Zehra Bhimani,
 Jacey Williams, Kara Ott, and Courtney Mays; these dedicated
 athletes are led by Howard Bell, who was named the Outstanding Coach
 of Class 3A; and
 WHEREAS, With long hours of preparation and unwavering
 determination, the Canton High lifters have fulfilled their goal of
 winning a second consecutive state championship, and the memory of
 this triumph will be a continuing source of pride for these young
 women for many years to come; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate the Canton High School Lady Eagles
 powerlifting team on winning the Texas High School Powerlifting
 Association Class 3A state championship and extend to the athletes,
 coaches, and staff sincere best wishes for continued success; and,
 be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
