H.R. No. 1174 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Members of First Missionary Baptist Church in Huntsville are gathering on April 10, 2011, to celebrate the installation of their new pastor, the Reverend Darrell Dever; and WHEREAS, First Missionary Baptist Church was founded in 1869 by the Reverend J. J. Rhinehart; through the years, the congregation has benefited from the able leadership of many dedicated pastors, and today that tradition of service continues under the direction of Reverend Dever; and WHEREAS, A Houston native, Darrell Dever grew up in the Fifth Ward community and graduated from Phillis Wheatley High School; he has previously served as a Sunday school teacher and ordained deacon at St. Emmanuel Baptist Church and as youth minister, co-president of the church anniversary event, brotherhood and Sunday school teacher, and assistant superintendent of Lighthouse Missionary Baptist Church; and WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Reverend Dever enjoys the love and support of his wife, Kendall; the couple are the proud parents of four children, and they also have three treasured grandchildren; and WHEREAS, The appointment of Pastor Dever marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter in the life of this notable house of worship, and members of the congregation may indeed look forward to deepening their faith and continuing their good works under his spiritual guidance; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas Legislature hereby honor the Reverend Darrell Dever on his selection as pastor of First Missionary Baptist Church and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Reverend Dever as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
