No. 1279 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, The students at Castleman Creek Elementary in Hewitt collected more than $10,500 for the American Heart Association during their 2011 Jump Rope for Heart fund-raiser; and WHEREAS, Jump Rope for Heart is a national event sponsored by the American Heart Association and the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance that educates elementary and middle school students about the benefits of physical activity and heart-healthy living while getting them involved in community service; participating students raise money to help fight cardiovascular disease and stroke, which are our nation's number one and number three killers, respectively, as they exercise and develop their jump rope skills; and WHEREAS, This year, 321 dedicated Castleman Creek students took part in the event, and the amount that they brought in set a new school record, surpassing their 2010 total of $8,400; the students were ably supported in this project by many teachers, parents, and volunteers, and the money they raised will help the American Heart Association fund vital research and educational programs; and WHEREAS, Through their participation in the 2011 Jump Rope for Heart endeavor, the students of Castleman Creek Elementary have demonstrated their commitment to remaining physically active and have contributed significantly to advancing the crucial work of the American Heart Association, and their remarkable accomplishment is indeed worthy of special recognition; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas Legislature hereby commend the students of Castleman Creek Elementary for their outstanding fund-raising efforts in behalf of the American Heart Association and extend to them sincere appreciation for their impressive contribution to such a worthy cause; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Castleman Creek Elementary as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
