 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Elizabeth Reeves was crowned Miss Texas
 Intercontinental at a pageant held in Stafford on April 2, 2011, and
 she will represent Texas at the Miss United States Intercontinental
 pageant in Houston on July 2, 2011; and
 WHEREAS, Ms. Reeves is currently a junior at The University
 of Texas at El Paso, where she is majoring in public relations; in
 addition to pursuing her degree, this enterprising young Texan
 works as a professional runway and print model and as a certified
 personal trainer and yoga instructor; she is also the co-owner of a
 gym, New You Fitness, and she writes about health and fitness for
 the El Paso Times and for Bloke, an El Paso magazine; and
 WHEREAS, This lovely and talented young woman has experienced
 great success in pageant competitions, winning the title of Miss El
 Paso Spokesmodel 2010 and El Paso Runway Miss 2010, as well as being
 selected as first runner-up in the Miss Hardin County 2009 and U.S.
 Runway Miss 2010 pageants; she previously competed in the Miss El
 Paso USA 2008 and Miss Texas USA 2010 contests; and
 WHEREAS, Ms. Reeves is an advocate for a number of worthy
 causes, including breast cancer awareness and the Humane Society;
 she plans to use her reign to help improve her community and to
 serve as a positive role model for young women throughout Texas; and
 WHEREAS, Possessed of exceptional poise and grace, Elizabeth
 Reeves has compiled a remarkable record of accomplishment, and she
 will serve as an excellent ambassador for the Lone Star State; now,
 therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Elizabeth Reeves on her selection
 as Miss Texas Intercontinental 2011 and extend to her best wishes
 for continued success in all her endeavors; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Ms. Reeves as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
