R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, A 60th wedding anniversary marks a lifetime of
mutual devotion and shared experiences, and Dan and Susie Perez of
Canton are celebrating this joyous milestone in their marriage on
April 24, 2011; and
WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Perez fell in love at first sight when
they met in a seventh-grade class in Premont, and they were later
joined in matrimony at a ceremony held at the groom's parents' home
in Alice; since that special day in 1951, the couple have been
blessed with a treasured family that includes 6 children, Yolanda,
Adan, David, Michael, Dianna, and Andrew, as well as 14
grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, Respected members of their community, Mr. and Mrs.
Perez are now both retired; Mr. Perez enjoyed a long career as a
self-employed truck driver and retired after 25 years with Yellow
Freight Lines, while Mrs. Perez owned a beauty salon and, after
earning a broker's license, sold real estate in the Irving area for
15 years; and
WHEREAS, This devoted pair have enjoyed six decades of
abiding love and affection for one another, and they are among an
exceptional group of men and women who can claim such a lasting
commitment; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Dan and Susie Perez on their 60th
wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for
continued happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Perez as an expression of high regard by
the Texas House of Representatives.
