82R17423 JBA-D By: Anderson of McLennan H.R. No. 1396 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the death of Juanita M. Jay of Waco on March 16, 2011, at the age of 96; and WHEREAS, The former Juanita Malone was born in Hillsboro on September 5, 1914, to Jim and Mary Malone; she married Alton Beverly Jay in 1939, and the couple shared 62 years together until Mr. Jay's passing in 2002; Mrs. Jay was the proud mother of a daughter, Cheryl, and she also delighted in the company of her three grandchildren; and WHEREAS, This beloved woman had a long career as a waitress that included employment at the Flight Line Snack Bar at James Connally Air Force Base in the 1960s; she and her husband subsequently managed the Parrot Plaza Apartments in Waco for more than two decades; in her leisure time, she was an avid doll collector and enjoyed participating in the Central Texas Doll Club; moreover, she was a member of the Church of Christ; and WHEREAS, Those who were privileged to share in the friendship and love of Juanita Jay will always remember her with great tenderness and affection; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Juanita M. Jay and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her daughter, Cheryl Pomerenke, and her husband, Steve; to her grandchildren, Tammy Charlson Fleming, Tyson Charlson, and Mindy Pomerenke; to her great-granddaughter, Olivia Fleming; to her stepson, Jimmy Jay; and to her other relatives and friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Juanita Jay.
